Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) provides skills cards for the plant sector of  the UK construction and allied industries. Launched in 2003 with over 300,000 cards issued across 60 categories of plant and related occupations. CPCS maintains its focus that the Scheme is centred on the principles of independent, rigorous assessment of a candidates operating ability and for assurance of competence

 

CPCS Red Trained Operator Card

 

CPCS Red Trained Operator Cards are issued on successful completion of a CPCS Theory and Practical Technical Test which must be taken at a CPCS accredited test centre.

 

All candidates must have achieved the relevant CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test within the last 2 years

 

CPCS Red Trained Operator Card Upgrade

To upgrade:
 
    •    Hold a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card for the category which is within 12 months of its expiry date
    •    Pass the relevant CITB health, safety and environment test within the last two years
    •    Achieve an NVQ with the appropriate units relevant to the CPCS category held

 

CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card

 

Blue Competent Operator Cards proves that candidates are competent to operate a particular type of plant or perform a specific working duty having successfully completed the relevant NVQ Diploma. That they have the necessary skills, knowledge and behaviour to do the job, the required HS&E training to do it safely and the necessary technical experience operating a particular machine or working duty.


CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card Renewal

 

Renewing a card within 5 years of expiry.


    •    Hold a CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card for the category which is within five years of expiry date
    •    Pass the relevant CITB health, safety and environment test within the last two years
    •    Pass the CPCS Renewal test for each category held
    •    Demonstrated on-going practical operating experience through a choice of routes:

            - Logbook

            - On-Site Assessment

            - CPCS Practical test

            - VQ


Completion of form F1/3 Application to Renew CPCS Competent Operator Card, to be submitted to the mailing address on the reverse of the application form. There is no need to attach payment as the cost of processing the application is included in the CPCS Renewal test fee.
